3D Printing 101 Web Series with YouTube's 3D Printing Nerd

We know what challenges come your way when you first start printing. Get a head start and solid guidance with MatterHackers' new web series, 3D Printing 101 hosted by YouTube's 3D Printing Nerd, Joel Telling.

MatterHackers and YouTube's 3D Printing Nerd, Joel Telling, have teamed up to bring an exciting new web series, 3D Printing 101. 3D Printing 101 is a great resource to get new 3D printing users up and running quickly and efficiently. Whether you are new to the 3D printing club or you simply need to brush up on the basics, we are here to help.

The series begins with one of the first steps to setting up a printer- loading the filament. 3D Printing Nerd Joel Telling begins the video explaining what PLA (poly lactic acid) filament is and why it is perfect for beginners. He then demonstrates how to load the filament into the printer with the help of MatterControl.

The filament is loaded, now all you want to do is get those optimal prints you have been dreaming of. You are only a few steps away! Before you start printing, you'll need to level your bed- the topic of the next video in the series. Telling uses the MatterControl Bed Leveling Wizard to demonstrate how to do this best. The wizard only takes a few minutes and proves to be very successful. You should be done with this step in no time!

You're so close to having everything set, your filament is in, your bed is leveled but, there is one more step before you can go. You need to make sure you can produce a good first layer. Why is this important? It is like 3D Printing Nerd Joel Telling mentions in the video, if your house does not have a good foundation, it might fall down. The same thing goes for your print.

You are finally there, you are ready to start printing! Let the 3D Printing Nerd take you through the essential settings in MatterControl that you need to pay attention to in order to get an excellent first print!

We hope you enjoy our new series. If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave them in the comment section below.
