MatterControl stops working
by Ray Gawronski

I am using MatterControl with Windows 7 in a HP laptop. MatterContol works great once I get it to print. The problem occurs when I select different options from the menu. If I stop a print, or try to use the Print Leveling Wizard. Does it matter whether the computer is 32 bit or 64 bit?

MatterControl will work on both 32- and 64-bit systems.

Can you be more specific about when the problem occurs? Which menu are you selecting from? Does the program crash?

If you're willing to share some information, the following steps will produce some error logs that should tell us more about what's going on:

1) Right click on ‘My Computer’ and select ‘Manage.’
2) In the menu on the left, navigate to ‘System Tools’ > ‘Event Viewer’ > ‘Windows Logs’.
3) Click on ‘Application’ to show logs in the middle window pane, then click ‘Filter Current Log’ in the right window pane, then check ‘Error’ and hit ‘OK’.
4) In the right window pane, choose ‘Save Filtered Log File As’. Give the file a descriptive name and email it to support@matterhackers.com.

Once I have that I can send it to my development team for review to see if anything looks suspicious and get back to you.

The reply you sent doesn't really tell me any more information than you gave previously. Please read my post again and follow the instructions in it if you would like assistance.

Ray, the instructions in my post involve generating a .evtx file and emailing that to support@matterhackers.com as this is generally the most efficient way for us to get information about the error. I was hoping to find a stack trace which would tell us exactly what's going on in the program code when the crash occurs. If you are not willing to email as instructed, then we'll have to do with what we have here.

The mention of the file 'ntdll.dll' in your last post is typically related to video drivers and video card incompatibility, so that is most likely the problem.

Unfortunately we do not have a solid solution to offer due to the large number of video cards on the market and the difficulty involved with maintaining compatibility with all of them.

I recommend ensuring that your video card driver(s) are up to date, acquiring them directly from the manufacturer's website if possible.
