Any 3D printer that runs G-Code or X3G and has a direct USB connection*

Please see our article about compatibility: Is MatterControl Compatible with my printer?

Most any 3D printer that runs G-code or X3G will work with MatterControl Touch. The models listed above simply have presets already added to MatterControl Touch.

More 3D printer models are coming soon!

*Some newer printers run G-Code or X3G but do not allow for direct USB connection, and instead rely on hardware which uses wifi or other methods of transferring G-Code.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 3D Printer model isn’t listed as supported, will it still work?

As a general rule any printer that runs “.gcode” will work, including custom, home-built printers.

Do I need to be connected to the internet or a wifi network for this to work?

No.  However, some features, such as web file transfers and auto-updates, do require a wireless internet connection.

How do I add printable models to my MatterControl Touch?

There are several ways to find printable files - you can download files directly to the Touch from the web, transfer files via SD Card or transfer files wirelessly from your computer via MatterControl Desktop.

Can I get the application separately and run it on a standard Android tablet?

Nope.  MatterControl Touch tablets have been modified at the hardware and firmware level in order to act as a dedicated computing device connected over USB.  It it important to note that these devices do not come with a battery and are not meant to work separately from the 3D printer itself.

- asked by Frank owens on February 2nd, 2016 at 12:08p.m.
I'm running MC Touch 1.4 and it seems that under Layers view, only 2D is available. This is a pain because the only way to see slicer generated supports accurately, is to view them in 3D. So I have to run the model in MC on my laptop first to see if all is good...then make sure I duplicate the settings on the Touch....this is a pain!!! Will MatterHackers be adding 3D view to Layers? It would make your awesome software even awesomer? (is that a word?)
