SmartMaterials CLEARANCE Natural SmartMaterials SmartFil Polypropylene Filament - 3.00mm (0.7kg)

Polypropylene is an interesting material because of it's light weight yet strong parts that are both chemically resistant and an excellent candidate for printing living hinges. One great feature of PP is that hardly anything sticks to it - helping it stay clean but also making it rather difficult to print with. SmartMaterials has you covered on that front with their SmartStick, a bed adhesion solution specifically made for this filament.

Slightly used filament. Spool will contain at least 90% of original weight. We recommend drying your filament before use. Please note, spool may not be perfectly wound and may be chipped.

The Complete Polypropylene 3D Printing Solution

SmartFil Polypropylene is perfect for parts that require chemical resistance as PP is a relatively inert material. There are very few materials that stick to Polypropylene, which helps keep it clean and non-reactive but also creates a problem in 3D printing in the form of bed adhesion. No matter your skill level, machine calibration, or build surface, getting the first layer of PP to stick is not particularly easy. This filament is therefore paired with the SmartMaterials SmartStick - a bed adhesion solution that you can apply to make first layer adhesion a bit easier. Without the SmartStick, success with PP of any kind is very difficult - if this is your first time trying out this material be sure to pick one up and do your research!

Perfect for Prototyping Polypropylene products

As the amount of materials available for 3D printing continues to widen, more and more opportunities there are to prototype and refine your models with the same material the finished product will be made from. PP is a popular injection molding and mass manufacturing material for all of the reasons described above but previously models had to be tested using other materials which were not perfect examples of what was being designed. Now with filament like this, you can design and test products at your desk in the same material the final product will be mass manufactured with.
