Cut and Engrave More Than You'd Expect

Many desktop lasers can engrave well but have trouble with thick material. The R1's 55W CO2 source handles both. It cuts 20 mm acrylic in a single pass and up to 18 mm black walnut plywood with an optional focus lens, and it's just as comfortable putting detailed engraving on leather, fabric, and paper.

  • Engrave only: glass, ceramic, and coated metal (bare metal can't be engraved)

Setup That Takes Minutes

Traditional CO2 lasers are known for tedious mirror alignment. The R1 does it for you. Auto Laser Alignment uses motorized mirrors to align the beam path in about a minute, a feature Bambu Lab says is exclusive to the R1. That means less time adjusting the machine and more time making things.

The TriSense System handles positioning. It combines three things:

  • A BirdsEye camera that gives you an overhead view of the whole bed for placing designs
  • A toolhead camera for close-up detail
  • A Pinpoint laser and XY-axis encoders to keep every job exactly where you put it

Together they let you place a design on scrap or an oddly shaped offcut and trust the result. Fully automatic laser ranging handles focus, and the R1 also supports curved surface and cylinder processing.

Cleaner Cuts, More Consistent Engraving

Two features address the most common laser quality problems:

  • Vibration Compensation reduces the ragged edges that can appear when the toolhead changes direction quickly.
  • Speed-Synced Laser Power adjusts laser output as the toolhead speeds up and slows down, so photos and gradients engrave with an even tone from edge to edge.

For production work, that means fewer rejected parts and less wasted material.

Go Bigger With the Long Material & Rotary Bundles

Most desktop lasers limit you to whatever fits on the bed. With the riser base and conveyor, the R1's working area grows from 600 x 300 mm to 600 x 3,000 mm. That opens up long signs, wall panels, furniture parts, and other large projects most desktop lasers can't handle. Plan for floor space: long stock extends out the front and back of the machine as it feeds through.

The Riser Base also adds clearance for taller objects, and it's required for both the Conveyor and the Rotary Attachment.

Important safety note: With the Riser Base or Conveyor installed, the enclosure is no longer fully closed. The R1 then becomes a Class 4 laser that requires CO2 laser-safety eyewear and is intended for professional use by trained operators.

The R1 is a fully enclosed Class 1 laser, so the beam stays inside the machine during normal operation. It also has a lid-open stop, flame detection, a safety key, and an emergency stop. Crossflow ventilation pulls fresh air in one side and exhausts smoke out the other. It ships with a ventilation hose and fan for venting smoke outdoors.
