This kit is for upgrading your JumpStart printer with an E3D hot end and extruder. We recommend the E3D Lite6 hot end and Titan extruder. You could also use a v6 hot end, but it's high temperature capabilities would go to waste since the JumpStart does not have a heated bed. You could also use any other extruder that mounts to a NEMA 17 motor.

This upgrade also converts the printer to a bowden setup. The extruder is removed from the X carriage and gets bolted to the back of the printer. This reduces the weight on the carriage and makes the whole printer faster and more sturdy.

The layer cooling fan also gets eliminated. This fan didn't do much anyways. We recommend using a small desk fan and pointing it at the printer.

  • E3D Lite6 12V Bowden Hot End
  • E3D Titan Extruder
  • NEMA 17 Stepper Motor, no more than 40 mm long (Shaft on original extruder motor is too short)
  • Printed Pieces
  • 3 x M3 Threaded Inserts
  • 2 x M3x16 screws
  • 1 x M3x18 screw
  • 1 x M3x6 screw

  1. Print mounting pieces and install the M3 heat set inserts in them.
  2. Assemble the hot end.
  3. Remove original extruder from the X carriage.
  4. and take out the ribbon cable.
  5. Screw mounting piece, hot end, and clamp to X carriage.
  6. Splice connectors from original wire harness onto wires from E3D hot end. Connect wires to motherboard. Some wires will need to be extended.
  7. Use hole template to drill holes on back of case for Titan extruder. We put ours on the back left side, near the channel for the wiring.
  8. Assemble the Titan onto the printer, with the extruder on the back and the stepper motor on the inside.
  9. Flash the modified firmware using Arduino 1.0.6 (later versions will not work)
  10. Enjoy.
