3D Scanning Tips
- Class 2M Laser Safety Tips:
- This product utilizes a Class 2M laser projector. Please avoid looking directly at the laser from close range. For detailed information, refer to the Class 2M laser standard document.
- To prevent retina damage, do not look directly into the laser beam through magnifying optical instruments (e.g., telescopes or camera lenses).
- To avoid laser reflection, refrain from placing reflective surfaces, such as mirrors or glass, in the path of the laser beam.
- Please use scanning spray when scanning transparent or reflective surfaces in Laser Line modes.
- Especially for transparent, black, specular, or highly reflective surfaces in Full-Field Structured Light modes.
- Please note that this 3D scanner features flashing lights, which may affect individuals sensitive to light changes, particularly those with photosensitive epilepsy.
- If you are unsure about the CPU configuration, please ensure that the CPU has at least 8 cores, 16 threads, and a base frequency of 2.4 GHz or higher.
FAQ
What is the MetroY Ultra recommended scanning size?
Recommended scanning size ranges from 10 × 10 × 10 mm to 2 × 2 × 2 m, covering tiny parts to medium industrial components.
Does MetroY Ultra have a built-in battery?
No, MetroY Ultra requires the supplied power adapter or Battery Grip supply to power the scanner.
Does MetroY Ultra have cooling to maintain accuracy over extended scans?
Yes, MetroY Ultra's fans dissipate heat, keeping its temperature stable. Both the image sensor and CPU have real-time temperature sensors to compensate for small drifts and ensure accuracy.
Will multiple scans of the same surface area be more accurate than a single scan?
When using laser scanning modes, repeatedly scanning the same surface area is essential because scanning multiple times from different angles helps the model go green, which means a higher-quality model.
Can MetroY Ultra be used to scan people's faces or bodies in any available mode?
It is not advisable to scan the face in any mode, as direct laser exposure to the eyes poses a risk. However, scanning other body parts, excluding the face, at a normal working distance, is considered safe. The software offers a real-time distance prompt to assist with this.
Can MetroY Ultra scan objects with electronic components? Will the laser damage the components?
Sensitive electronic components will not be harmed if they are kept at least 200 mm away. It is important to ensure that the components are not positioned directly next to the scanner's laser outlet, as this area has a high energy density from laser emissions.
Can I switch scanning modes during a scan?
Yes, but only within the same tracking mode.
To do it, click the Finish button, select "Continue", switch to a different mode, and resume scanning. You can also configure the scanner's M-key setting on the Revo Metro. When using line laser scanning, you can switch between different line-laser types using the + and - keys.
