Utilizing 3D Printing to Fabricate Harley Davidson Components
Chris Morgan
Jul 24, 2019
August 2019 Hacker of the Month, Chuck Taggart, uses 3D printing to invent products and to create amazing components for his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Our August 2019 Hacker of the Month, Chuck Taggart, resides in Southlake, Texas. Chuck began his professional career as a civil engineer, planning, designing and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure, but moved into insurance about 15 years ago. He currently owns a large health insurance agency, Health Reform Team, based in Grapevine, Texas....

How To Succeed with LayerLock Garolite Build Surfaces
Tina Chau
Mar 21, 2019
Successfully achieve strong bed adhesion for NylonX, NylonG, and standard filaments using LayerLock Garolite Build Surfaces.
One of 3D printer users’ greatest challenges is warping. Whether it’s due to poor bed adhesion, moisture-filled filament, unstable environment temperature, or some combination of all three, every user has had their parts lift during the printing process. Nylon and nylon-based filament, for example, are materials notoriously known for their susceptibility to warping during printing due ...

Create Durable, 3D Printed Paddleboard Parts with NylonX
Alec Richter
Jun 5, 2018
In any sport, equipment gets broken or damaged and you need to replace parts. Rather than buy something new, we repair it using a NylonX 3D print.
Here in California, it could be the middle of December or July and it's great weather for fun at the beach. Unfortunately, our Creative Lead, Dylan, had a broken paddle for his paddle board, and replacing his paddle would be hundreds of dollars. Rather than throw away an otherwise excellent paddle, NylonX would be the perfect material to replace and fix the broken parts....

Create Functional, 3D Printed Skateboard Parts with NylonX
Alec Richter
Jun 6, 2018
If you're creating prototypes or end-use parts, NylonX is an excellent material to work with. Check out how we put together a skateboard with 3D printed parts.
Whether it's paddle boarding or skating, our Creative Lead loves a board under his feet. Not far from our office is a skatepark and if you can't find Dylan at the office, odds are that he's there. Rather than use a normal skateboard, he wanted something lighter and with more flair, so he printed Daniel Noree's skateboard trucks and bushings using NylonX and PRO Series Flex....

Create Custom, End-Use, 3D Printed Bike Parts with NylonX
Alec Richter
Jun 6, 2018
With a background in engineering, Dave sets out to design, model, and 3D print custom made bike pedals using NylonX.
Despite being renowned for the traffic and sprawling cities that blend together, there are a lot of parks and hiking trails throughout Southern California. Not too far from our office is a bike trail, where you can often find Dave doing a quick circuit around it on his lunch break. With most consumer goods, it's common to find something that fits most of your criteria, but not all of them, and bik...

How To: 3D Print Nylon on Garolite Print Beds
Alec Richter
Jun 10, 2018
If you’ve ever printed with a high temperature material, you’ve probably found that there’s some difficulty in getting your parts to stick to the bed.
If you’ve ever printed with a high-temperature material, you’ve probably found that there’s some difficulty in getting your parts to stick to the bed. Some higher-end 3D printers don't have a heated bed and can print nylon beautifully, and that’s due to the unique properties of their garolite bed.
