Bambu Lab X2D 3D Printer

Refining Excellence

The Bambu Lab X2D is the second generation of the premium X Series. Its innovative dual-nozzle system makes multi-material 3D printing accessible and effortless support removal. Featuring a main nozzle for parts and an auxiliary nozzle dedicated to supports, this printer delivers professional results with clean, peelable supports that wrap around complex geometries without leaving marks.

Key Features of the Bambu Lab X2D 3D Printer:

  • Revolutionary dual-nozzle support system.
  • Advanced multi-material capabilities.
  • Intelligent AI monitoring system.
  • Upgraded with a smart thermal control system.
  • Highly efficient multi-color 3D printing with less filament waste.

True Dual-Nozzle Performance

The X2D's innovative dual-nozzle design dedicates one nozzle to 3D printing your part while the auxiliary nozzle handles all support material. This separation allows you to use different materials for supports that peel away cleanly without leaving marks or requiring extensive post-processing. Perfect for complex geometries, overhangs, and internal channels.

  • The main nozzle 3D prints the actual part using the primary material.
  • Auxiliary nozzle uses dedicated support material for clean removal.
  • Eliminates support marks and reduces post-processing time.

Cleverly Compact Design

With a rear-mounted filament module, two filament feeders, and a hybrid direct-and-Bowden extruder setup, the X2D is engineered to balance precision and space efficiency. Its redesigned filament-cutting system further improves material handling while supporting the 3D printer’s compact footprint.

  • The rear filament module helps maintain a clean, space-saving design.
  • Two filament feeders support versatile material management.
  • The hybrid direct-and-Bowden setup improves control and responsiveness.
  • Reengineered filament-cutting system helps reduce waste.

Premium Printing Environment

The X2D combines a heated chamber, improved filtration, and intelligent monitoring features to create a more controlled and reliable 3D printing experience. From thermal stability to camera-assisted verification, it is designed to support high-quality results with less guesswork.

  • The active heated chamber reaches up to 65°C.
  • Improved filter for air quality protection.
  • Camera-driven plate and filament verification enhances setup confidence.
  • The smart thermal control system helps maintain consistent 3D print conditions.

Multi-Material Management

Experience faster multi-color 3D printing and cleaner results with the X2D's dual-nozzle system. The 3D printer handles complex multi-material projects with ease, allowing you to combine different properties and colors in a single print job while maintaining professional quality throughout.

  • Faster multi-color printing compared to single-nozzle systems.
  • Mix materials with different properties in one 3D print.
  • Professional-grade results with minimal material waste.

Intelligent Monitoring System

Built-in AI detection monitors the entire filament path and 3D print process, serving as your backup system for reliable 3D printing. Combined with adaptive calibration technology, the X2D maintains precision over time while the dual-intake cooling system ensures crisp detail reproduction in every layer.

  • Full filament path AI detection catches issues faster.
  • Adaptive calibration maintains long-term precision.
  • Dual-intake cooling for enhanced detail quality.

FAQ

What are the main differences between the X2D and X1C?

The X2D is X1C's next chapter! It adds a dual-nozzle system for up to 25-color printing, an actively heated chamber (up to 65 °C) for engineering filaments, a servo extruder with real-time flow sensing, filament tangle detection, expanded AI monitoring with both liveview and toolhead cameras, and support for Vision Encoder–based motion accuracy calibration. Everything that made X1C great - refined and taken further.
For more product specifications, please refer to the Technical Specifications.

What is the maximum 3D printing speed and acceleration of the X2D?

When 3D printing with the main nozzle, the maximum movement speed is 1000 mm/s and the maximum acceleration is 20,000 mm/s².

Are the left and right hotends identical?

Yes, the left and right hotends are identical in structure and components, and can be used interchangeably between left and right positions.

What is the function of the chamber exhaust fan on the X2D's rear panel?

The chamber exhaust fan actively extracts air from the chamber. In Cooling Mode (PLA and other low-temp filaments), it works with the adaptive airflow system to dissipate heat and expel fumes. After 3D printing high-temp filaments, enable "Purify Air At Print End" to clear residual fumes - optionally routing them outdoors via a ventilation pipe.

What is the maximum number of AMS units the X2D can connect to?

  • Single hotend: Supports up to 4 AMS 2 Pro and 8 AMS HT units (12 units total, 24 slots).
  • Dual hotends: Enables up to 25-color printing when combined with the maximum AMS configuration.

The buffer of the X2D has two 6-pin ports on top. Does it support connecting two AMS/AMS 2 Pro/AMS HT units simultaneously?

No. The two ports serve different purposes: One is for connecting AMS/AMS 2 Pro/AMS HT. The other is for connecting the chamber exhaust fan.

To connect multiple AMS units, daisy-chain them using 6-pin cables.

Can X2D use the AMS hub?

The X2D and the AMS hub are incompatible, as they have different interface types.

Is the X2D's build plate compatible with those of X/P/A series 3D printers?

The X2D supports all current Bambu Lab 256 mm × 256 mm build plates. It does not recognize 1st-generation build plates. If the 3D printer fails to detect the build plate type, manually select "Ignore" or disable build plate detection in the on-screen settings.

Does the X2D support high-flow nozzles?

Yes. High-flow hotends maintain 3D print quality while significantly increasing print speed, reducing print time by up to 30% compared with standard nozzles.

What's the advantage of having two extruders?

The main extruder (in the toolhead) handles precise flow control. Auxiliary Extruder (Mounted on the top of the rear panel): As a remote extruder, it feeds filament from the buffer to the toolhead through a PTFE tube, effectively saving toolhead space and maximizing available 3D print volume.
