Clog Detector

Previously an optional add-on and now standard with every printer, the clog detector improves printer reliability. Its custom high-sensitivity encoder detects:

  • Under-extrusion caused by low nozzle temperature or the nozzle being too close to the bed

The detector is a drop-in replacement for the existing filament run-out sensor. Two units are recommended for a dual-print-head configuration.

The chassis is made from solid 40x40 T-slot aluminum profiles with powder-coated laser-cut aluminum brackets and joints. An optional 3mm black Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) enclosure is available for the BIG-60, BIG-120X, and BIG-120Z models, while it comes standard for the BIG-Meter and BIG-180X.

Active Air Filter

Active Air Filter

The Modix Active Air Filter (MAAF) purifies the printer's chamber by capturing micro-particles and fumes during 3D printing. It features a multi-layer filtering system with a pre-filter, HEPA filter, and active carbon filter. Installing the MAAF is vital for health, especially when printing with materials like PETG and ABS, as harmful particles can be released. Users can control airflow speed to optimize filtration and cleaning. Replacement filters are needed every 3 to 12 months, with alerts on the front panel for timely changes.

Removeable Bed

Print Surface and Removable Magnetic Bed

The Alcoa Mic6 milled cast aluminum plate provides a consistent print surface, complemented by an optional removable magnetic bed add-on for easy print removal. 

Modix printers feature a default PEI sheet that releases prints upon cooling, but the magnetic add-on allows for instant removal by bending the spring steel plate.

This add-on includes an adhesive magnetic sheet for the aluminum bed and a dual-sided spring steel plate: one side is textured with PEI, the other is smooth and glossy. 

Key specifications include:
