The Ultimaker S5 is an awesome dual-extrusion 3D printer with a number of outstanding features. With a build volume of 330 x 240 x 300 mm (13 x 9.5 x 11.8 inches), an installed glass front door, and a redesigned, integrated full LED touchscreen, you can 3D print like never before. In addition, the Ultimaker S5 comes with an improved filament feed system with filament flow sensor so in case of power outage, or if you run out of filament, you can resume your last 3D print right where it started once you get a new spool loaded or the power back on. The adaptive, heated build plate has enhanced bed leveling capabilities, resulting in excellent first layers, and peace of mind throughout the entire print. It also comes with multiple, swappable build plates for different 3D printing materials; glass and anodized aluminum are included, with more build plate options available Fall 2018. The extruder components have also been hardened making them more suitable for abrasive filaments.

Interchangeable Print Cores - Print with Every Material
The Ultimaker S5 comes with swappable "print cores" (aka hotends) so that you can experience greater dual extrusion reliability by utilizing specific cores and nozzles for different material types. Currently, three cores are available - AA, BB, and CC. The AA core is the core designed for standard materials such as PLA filament, ABS filament, etc. The BB core is designed for use with dissolvable support materials such as PVA and HIPS. The CC Core features an Olsson Ruby Nozzle for printing with abrasive materials like NylonX or NylonG. Ultimaker cores feature nozzles which have customized geometry so that they are optimized for different material types. That means that you can expect greater reliability and fewer failed prints.
Precise Dual Extrusion 3D Printing
Ultimaker's innovative dual extrusion system allows you to print with two materials at once so that you can utilize multiple colors or support materials such as HIPS. Dissolvable support materials like PVA allow you to create complex prints without using breakaway supports. The dual extruder on the Ultimaker S5 comes with a unique auto nozzle-lifting system which picks up your secondary print nozzle when it is not in use. This allows the user to achieve cleaner prints without the stringing commonly associated with dual extrusion printers.
